Building Your Character Through Stats

Every Character in Starforged Ascendant starts with the same seven Primary Stats:

Endurance, Strength, Reflex, Cunning, Intelligence, Stamina and Focus.

The interesting part comes from deciding where you want the build to lean.

Each Stat supports a different mix of offence, defence and utility.

Endurance

Endurance is the foundation for Health.

It also improves how strongly the Character receives beneficial recovery effects.

That makes it valuable for durable builds and for Characters that expect to receive regular healing, Shield recovery or Energy recovery.

Primary Stats that support offensive Character builds

Strength

Strength develops Armour.

Armour protects against Kinetic, Concussive and Energy damage, making Strength especially useful for Characters that expect to spend time close to enemies.

Heavy Armour builds naturally have plenty of reasons to care about it, but Strength can still support other playstyles that need stronger physical protection.

Reflex

Reflex contributes to both Hit and Evasion.

A high-Reflex Character lands attacks more reliably and has a better chance of avoiding incoming attacks.

That makes it useful for mobile and precision-focused builds.

Cunning

Cunning develops Vital.

It helps increase Vital Chance and also increases the power of a successful Vital result.

A build focused on Cunning can create bigger damage spikes when everything lines up.

Primary Stats that contribute to defensive layers

Intelligence

Intelligence develops Shield and utility.

It adds Shield directly, increases Shield Strength, improves Shield recharge, and strengthens or extends many buffs, debuffs and periodic effects.

That makes Intelligence attractive to support builds, Shield-heavy Characters and anyone leaning strongly into utility Skills (periodic damage & healing affects are affected by utility modifiers).

Stats supporting utility, movement and combat tempo

Stamina

Stamina supports movement and Skill tempo.

It increases Movement Speed, improves Dive distance and recovery, and helps Skill charges recover faster.

A Character built around frequent Skill use can gain a lot from it, but it provides no inherent defensive layer.

Focus

Focus develops Power.

Power increases applicable damage and active recovery.

Focus also improves Neural Fortitude, giving the Character consistent general mitigation, and contributes to Character-driven Drone damage.

That gives Focus a broad role across offence, defence and Drone-oriented builds.

Stat trade-offs shape the strengths of a Character build

Trade-offs shape the build

The seven Stats create a constant set of choices.

A Character investing heavily in Reflex and Cunning may become extremely accurate and dangerous when Vital triggers.

That investment leaves fewer opportunities to manage health, shield and mitigation outside of evasion.

A support Character may favour Intelligence and Focus.

A Skill-heavy mobile build may value Stamina.

A tank may combine Endurance, Strength and Intelligence to build several defensive layers at once.

There is no single path that automatically covers offence, defence and utility.

The build comes from deciding which strengths matter most and which weaknesses you are comfortable managing through Skills, Artefacts, Talents, the Drone or your own playstyle.

Those trade-offs are where the Character starts to take shape.
