Progression Through Missions
Most Character progression in Starforged Ascendant happens while you are out on Missions.

Most Character progression in Starforged Ascendant happens while you are out on Missions.
Your Character can progress from Level 1 to Level 100, earning EXP through combat and Mission activity along the way.

EXP earned inside a Mission first becomes Pending Mission EXP.
You can see that progression building during the run, but it remains connected to the Mission until the run is settled.
- Enemy kills contribute to it.
- Objectives contribute to it.
- Successful completion of the primary objective multiplies the final EXP earned from the Mission.
Completing the Mission and successfully reaching the end of the run then settles that progress back onto the Character, allowing you to update talents safely in base.
The enemies you fight, the objective you complete and the final Mission result all contribute to the same progression journey.

Death and recovery
Death also interacts with Pending Mission EXP. When the Character dies, part of that pending progress is left behind for recovery.
The Character and Drone return at the latest Mission checkpoint, and the stored EXP can be reclaimed from the body. Giving death a consequence while keeping the Mission moving.
A difficult encounter can therefore change your priorities.
- You may choose to head back toward the body first.
- You may need to fight through enemies that have moved into the area.
- You may decide that securing the objective is more important.

Levelling feeds the build
Character Levels eventually translate into more choices in the Talent system.
Those points can strengthen the exact parts of the build you care about.
- A ranged Character may push further into Rifles and Reflex.
- A frontline Character may invest in Heavy Armour and Endurance.
- Another player may start putting more points into the Drone or a specific Power family.
The result is that Character progression feeds directly back into combat decisions.
Your equipment is changing. Your Talents are developing. Your Power Core choices are becoming more specialised. Your Drone is becoming a bigger part of the build.
The next Mission is therefore being played by a slightly different Character than the previous one.
That is the progression loop Starforged Ascendant is aiming for.
You enter a Mission with a build. You earn progress while solving the Mission. You return with more options for shaping what that build becomes next.
